Job Summary

Barts Electric is seeking a strategic and highly experienced Construction Operations Manager to lead our construction division. This individual will manage the operational execution of multiple large-scale commercial and industrial electrical projects while cultivating a high-performance culture focused on results, safety, and developing people. The role requires a hands-on leader who can balance long-term planning with day-to-day operational excellence, ensuring every project is delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with our company values. A qualified candidate will also display a willingness to learn, grow, and build people, which is a core expectation of all Barts Electric employees.


Key Responsibilities

Construction Operations Leadership

  • Oversee all phases of construction activities across multiple projects, including scheduling, workforce planning, subcontractor coordination, and material logistics.
  • Ensure full adherence to project timelines, budgets, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Analyze field performance, identify efficiency gaps, and implement corrective action plans.
  • Support and collaborate with estimating, preconstruction, and project management teams during project handoff and execution.

Project Performance and Accountability

  • Manage project milestones and deliverables with a focus on cost control and resource optimization.
  • Participate in risk mitigation planning and resolution of delays or change orders.
  • Establish clear Key Performance Indicators and maintain accurate project tracking and reporting systems.
  • Conduct post-project reviews to identify lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.

Team Development and Supervision

  • Provide strong leadership and mentorship to project managers, field supervisors, and construction crews.
  • Champion a growth mindset by developing training and leadership pipelines within the operations team.
  • Conduct staff evaluations, manage succession plans, and ensure accountability for individual and team performance.

Stakeholder Communication and Client Engagement

  • Maintain effective communication with clients, general contractors, and suppliers throughout project lifecycles.
  • Attend jobsite and client meetings to ensure expectations are aligned and problems are resolved promptly.
  • Serve as a professional and ethical representative of Barts Electric in all external engagements.

Compliance and Process Management

  • Enforce company-wide safety policies and ensure OSHA and electrical code compliance on every jobsite.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (HR, finance, procurement) to support company-wide initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and refine operational procedures to standardize best practices.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Exceptional leadership skills with a proven ability to lead construction teams in fast-paced environments.
  • Deep understanding of construction methodologies, safety standards, scheduling software, and project financials.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to resolve complex field challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal collaboration and external client management.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and project scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Procore, or similar).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in construction operations, preferably electrical contracting.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple, concurrent projects ranging from mid-sized to large-scale.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred: CMAA or AIC certification a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Regular site visits required; ability to traverse rough or uneven terrain on active jobsites.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and perform inspections in all types of weather.
  • Availability for on-call responsibilities related to urgent project matters.
